I’m in! I did War & Peace, Lonesome Dove, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and the discussions made them all so much richer. Looking forward to another Big Read.
First, kudos on the correct spelling! It has to be the most misspelled book title of all time...
I've never finished Moby-Dick, but not for the usual reasons. I've picked it up when I'm between books (not a good idea with a tome that thick) and even started to listen to the audiobook version on a long car ride that still wasn't long enough... My standing joke is that people nudge me with a smile and say that it's my "white whale" -- but I have no idea what they're talking about.
I just got my copy, I went for the Norton version and having only read three chapters, I am all in. I know I would never have attempted this without a group...lookig forward to everyone's insights.
Ya know, they’re all pretty good! It helps that we’re not wading through translation differences. I’m reading this version, introduced by Nathaniel Philbrick.

I'm so glad to hear that! Thanks Tim. :)
This will be my second time around with this book, and guys it is worth it.
Maybe I'll FINALLY finish it! I've tried a couple times in the past. :-)
Sometimes it takes a group read to do it!

I'm going to have to dive back in...
I think it's one of those books for *many* people!
I’m in too. I made it through War and Peace here with your encouragement.
Excited to start! Would not have attempted without the group.
I’m also hoping to finally finish it! I got bogged down in one of the chapters about the various types of whales a few years ago!
Hmmm. 40 pages a day? Quality time with Jeremy? I just might do it!
It’s 40 pages per week! Super doable!
Ha, would be glad to have ya along!

So glad to have you part of the group, Dee!
Sounds good. I'm gonna try and join this, even though June's a bit mental.
Do you have a edition that you recommend getting?

Looking forward to reading this one!
Haha I just came on here to make the same joke… Moby-Dick feels like my white whale! Looking forward to reading!
Hi Jeremy
I didn’t see Moby Dick on the 2025 reading list am I missing something?
