Reason 4: You have to read it to believe it. I have read it and still don't believe it. I get grumpy being cold and wet for more than 20 minutes and these guys spent months in conditions best described as "not dry." Can't wait to go on this journey again. I'll be doing so with a warm beverage under a cozy blanket. :)
Sorry...it was top of mind after reading Dreyer. He had a list of 67 things to always do, and number 67 was "make sure your numbers match," and then he pointed out that his list only had 66 things because he skipped number 13, which I didn't even notice. Good stuff.
Thankfully that's a pretty easy one this time around: https://amzn.to/3zfKqYE. This is the most popular edition and includes a great introduction from Nathaniel Philbrick.
I discovered this story while homeschooling our youngest son. I had never heard of Shackleton or this expedition prior to this being part of our homeschool curriculum. It’s an INCREDIBLE true story!
This is one of the best books I've read on man's ability to overcome extreme adversity. "Impossible" was not in Shackleton's vocabulary because he was the leader who cared for his men.

I'm glad you added #4 since I was confused by the mismatch between Jeremy's headline and the actual list, haha
Lol. The final paragraph was its own point until *right* before I published. :)

Excited to begin! Is there a specific version you suggest?

Excited to read this novel that’s new to me, and to continue reading with the group!
Glad to have you, Jay!

It's remarkable, isn't it? I still have a hard time believing it's real.
Please recommend a version or edition?
