"Invisible Man" + "All About Love"

Our February reading starts in just a few days. On the non-fiction side, bell hooks’s All About Love (1999) has been called “a guide to helping us understand each other” and was originally written because hooks felt that young people were too cynical about love.

On the fiction side, Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man (1952) is often counted among the most influential novels in American history. Through February and March, we’ll follow an unnamed Black narrator as he navigates a world that refuses to see him for who he truly is, forcing him to grapple with issues of invisibility, self-definition, and the search for meaning in a society shaped by prejudice and power.
