I voted for ToR but would be happy with either! Excited to see what the picks are for next year! I also vote for Anna Karennina but trust your judgment since I would have never read Lonesome Dove otherwise and it's now one of my all time favorites!

Very pro Power Broker here. My own career intersects parks and urban planning, been meaning to read it for a while.

I'm in the middle of the Power Broker so I'd LOVE to read the Doris Kearnes but either one would be fantastic. As a New Yorker, I find Robert Moses a fascinating character. I will say the Power Broker seems endless, although very interesting to me.

I watched Turn Every Page: The Adventures of Robert Caro and Robert Gottlieb, which was fascinating and inspiring, so I would really love the opportunity to read The Power Broker!

Multiple people have recommended The Power Broker to me. I voted for it because it’s a boo I probably wouldn’t be able to get myself to read outside the Bug Read. I can see myself eventually reading Team of Rivals on my own someday.

Practically had to flip a coin to decide which one to vote for! As a New Yorker, The Power Broker won out by a hair, if only for a great opportunity to take a deep dive into my own city's history. But I will truly be thrilled to read either one with this group!! Can't wait to find out what's on next year's reading list!

I am new to the Big Read. Both of these books are excellent. I chose Power Broker because of a love for NYC. I live in Florida so I know it as a great place to visit. Thanks for the request for input.

Like the challenge of Power Brokers, (and a fascinating subject) but will join in TofR if that’s the majority.

Since I’ve not read The Power Broker, my vote is for Team of Rivals. I do plan to read Caro in the future.

I voted for TOR because I own it and haven’t read it but would be happy with Caro.

I voted for Power Broker because I have it on my bookshelf and have been wanting to carve out the time to dive commit to it. But, I am concerned about the idea of it being 1 of 6 books on the schedule for the year. Out of curiosity I looked into the word count and have seen 700,000 words, which is more than War and Peace, which we spent the whole year reading by itself.

Would love to see both since they are so different. I think 2 non-fiction spread out over the year (one each half) would be a nice change of pace.

Team of Rivals was so so good when I read it 2 years ago. So I voted for The Power Broker which I first saw in a Caro exhibit at the NY Historical Society museum. His work looks so cool and this would be a great place to start.

It’s kind of a toss up but I chose Team of Rivals because I love almost anything about Lincoln.
